Patriots' Day Tablescape...

Patriots' Day is a civic holiday in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the state of Maine, which was originally a part of Massachusetts. It was created to pay homage to the military skirmishes which marked the turning point in the long struggle for independence between the American Colonies and England. Traditionally, Patriots' Day was celebrated on the 19th of April, in honor of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War, fought on this date in 1775. In recent years, however, Patriots' Day has been observed on the third Monday of every April, thereby providing the residents with a three-day holiday weekend.










Since Patriots' Day was this past Monday I decided to do my tablescape in honor of this Massachusetts Holiday.

I began by covering my table with a red table cloth for a punch of color. I layered my white ironstone dinner plates from JC Penney with blue and white Royal Stafford plates I found at TJ Maxx, a few years ago. The red scallop salad bowl is also from JC Penny. My wine glasses are "Palm" and they were purchased from Home Goods. The Americana Boxes at the center of the table are from LTD Commodities, they normally sit atop a cabinet in my office which is Americana themed. The red, white and blue stars are from Michaels. I had all the items on this table in my home already, I didn't purchase anything new, and I just "shopped" around my house. I hope you enjoy my table and reflect on all the sacrifices of our military past and present.
